UPSL Announces Southern California Expansion with IE United FC

Fontana (Calif.)-Based Pro Development Club Joins SoCal Division

January 15, 2020 – Los Angeles – The United Premier Soccer League (UPSL) is pleased to announce IE United FC as a member kicking off with the 2020 Spring Season.

Based in Fontana (Calif.), IE United FC has applied as a registered non-profit organization in the State of California, and will begin UPSL play in the Western Conference SoCal Division. The club will host its home games at the Ralph M. Lewis Sports Complex (6198 Citrus Ave., Fontana, CA 92336) in compliance with UPSL National League standards.

United Premier Soccer League SoCal Division Manager Gary Brunner said, "We would like to welcome IE United FC, a promising new team from the Inland Empire. IE United FC has solid leadership with Jeff Vazquez and his group, who are tournament tested and ready to take the step to a league format with the UPSL SoCal Division. Good luck to them as they build for the 2020 Spring Season."

IE United FC is the next step for the club, which mainly consists of players from the locally famous Casa Blanca team that competes at the prestigious Budweiser Cup and Copa Alianza tournaments. IE United FC's first team will compete exclusively in the UPSL.

IE United FC Owner Jeff A. Vazquez said, "I like what the UPSL stands for and the direction in which the league is headed. I think it is important to showcase the talent in the U.S., and it's time for the world to recognize this as well. Spring 2020 was perfect for us to get into a league that will match our drive, passion and level for the sport. We believe we can compete with the top teams, and we are ready to prove it. We are IE. Erick Zavalza and Mario Gutierrez will serve as Head Coaches of IE United FC. Zavalza is the former coach of Casa Blanca. Gutierrez, last played for Deportivo Toluca FC's Reserve Team and Ontario Fury (MASL).

Francesca Escobedo is Manager of IE United FC. A former collegiate player, Escobedo played locally at San Bernardino (Calif.) Valley College.

The club will announce tryouts and its upcoming game schedule.

IE United FC is an American Soccer club currently based in Fontana, Calif., and a new member of the United Premier Soccer League. IE United FC will begin play in the UPSL Western Conference.

Founded in 2019, IE United FC can participate in the qualifying rounds for the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup through their affiliation and membership with the UPSL, the U.S. Soccer Federation (USSF) and the United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA).

United Premier Soccer League

The UPSL was formed in 2011 and currently includes more than 300 teams in Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia and Wisconsin. UPSL is the fastest growing Pro Development League in the USA, with 500-plus teams targeted for the 2020 Spring Season. Each UPSL team is individually owned and operated, and is responsible for maintaining either UPSL Pro Premier Division or Championship Division minimum standards.

UPSL teams are all eligible to participate in the U.S. Open Cup Qualifying Rounds through the leagues affiliation with the U.S. Soccer Federation (USSF) and the United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA).
